Dong has a PhD in Social & Policy Research and an MSc (with distinction) in Business & Community from University of Bath where she won two competitive scholarship awards for her academic excellence. Her research interests centre on sustainability and growth in the global retail and supply chain context. Dong has presented her works in various international conferences and published in academic peer reviewed journals. Prior to joining The Retail Institute, Dong worked as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Bath teaching undergraduate students on research methods.
Prior to her academic career, Dong worked as a freelance consultant to a number of commercial and NGO clients. She coordinated a value chain analysis project looking at potential growth and value stream options for the coconut industry in leading produce countries such as Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Dong has also led a number of projects funded by Belgium and Luxembourg development agencies on social marketing, consumer awareness and willingness to pay for water and sanitation related products and services in lower income communities in Vietnam.
Dong’s research skills and experience in delivering social and commercial research projects inform clients’ decision making on business strategy and improving services.
